The Uganda Tourism Board and Emirates Airlines have on Wednesday 8 th May 2024
signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to drive inbound tourism and boost
visitors to Uganda, the Pearl of Africa.
Uganda has been awarded as the best investment destination for attracting the most
significant foreign direct investment (FDI) projects in Africa in 2023. The prestigious
award, the AIM Investment Award 2024, was presented to Hon. Evelyn Anite,
Minister of State for Investment at a gala dinner at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition
Centre (ADNEC) as part of the 13 the edition of the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM)
on 8 the May 2024.
Uganda’s winning projects included;
The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) of the United Arab Emirates has given
its approval to a request for Uganda Airlines to operate direct flights from Entebbe,
Uganda to Abu Dhabi.
The approval was conveyed on Wednesday 24 the April 2024 during a meeting
between H.E. Zaake W. Kibedi, Ambassador of the Republic of Uganda to the United
Arab Emirates and H.E. Omar Ghaleb, Deputy Director General of the GCAA.
The approval was premised on the pre-condition that Uganda Airlines fulfils all the
required formalities.
Uganda and UAE have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Experience Exchange in Government Development and Modernization. The MoU was signed on 13th February 2024 on the margins of the ongoing World Governments Summit in Dubai.
Gen. Odongo Jeje Abubakhar, Minister of Foreign Affairs signed the MoU on behalf of the Government of Uganda whereas H.E. Mohammad Abdullah AI Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs signed on behalf of the UAE.
President Yoweri Museveni has called on world leaders to support each other’s prosperity
and ensure that nobody is left behind. He stated this while closing the 3rd South Summit that
was held in Kampala, Uganda, 15 - 17 January 2024. He emphasised that during his
leadership of the organisation, he would advocate for three points, namely; production of
goods and services, dealing with the issue of markets and infrastructure.
H.E. Zaake W. Kibedi, Ambassador of the Republic of Uganda to the United Arab
Emirates on Tuesday 5 th September 2023 met with H.E. Dr. Ali Hussain Makki,
Executive Director of the Logistics & Trade Facilitation Sector of the Abu Dhabi
Department of Economic Development at the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic
Development in Abu Dhabi.
Uganda was recognised as the best investment destination in the East Africa region at the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) held in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Uganda beat six
other countries to emerge the best investment destination in East Africa.
The AIM is an annual leading platform for investors in the world and the 2023 edition held 8 May to 10 May 2023 was attended by more than 170 countries
seeking investments.
Today ( Thurs Nov 10th 2022) the Immigration Attaché- Mr Kabwijamu Amil, on behalf of the Uganda Embassy in Abu Dhabi & Consulate in Dubai received from the Director General Directorate of Residency & Foreign Affairs- Dubai, General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri a certificate of appreciation for cooperation, support and services rendered towards the effective facilitation of the recently concluded repatriation exercise of over 1500 Ugandans that were stranded in the UAE and Dubai in particular.
