Prime Minister officiates at the 3rd Uganda - UAE Business Forum
The Uganda - UAE Business Forum is an annual event organised by the Uganda Embassy, Abu Dhabi and the Uganda Consulate General, Dubai that is aimed at attracting Foreign Direct Investment, promoting Uganda’s exports in UAE, promotion of tourism, attraction of technology transfers, projecting and creating linkages between the business community of both countries.
The 3rd Edition of the Forum was held in Dubai and Abi Dhabi from 28th - 31st October 2024 under the theme ‘Unlocking New Horizons; UAE - Uganda Partnership for Economic Prosperity’. It was held in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Abu Dhabi Department for Economic Development, and the Dubai Chamber of Commerce.
In her address, the Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, Prime Minister of the Republic of Uganda who was the key note speaker saluted the strong bonds of friendship that exist between Uganda and the United Arab Emirates which have been built on a foundation of mutual respect, shared interests, and a commitment to peace and prosperity.
She commended the blossoming trade between both countries where in 2023, Uganda exported goods worth US$ 2.03 Billion to the UAE, making it Uganda’s biggest export destination, and on the other hand, UAE companies have invested over U$ 3 billion in Uganda especially in energy, infrastructure, heath care, agri-business, oil and gas, manufacturing, construction, real estate, and tourism.
She further commended the hospitality of the UAE that has led it to become home to the vibrant 160,000 strong Ugandan community which is playing a positive role in the development of both countries and called on the participants at the 3rd Uganda -UAE Business Forum to embrace agile leadership, to leverage on technology, and to foster a culture of resilience in growing their businesses.
The Prime Minister also held a bilateral meeting with His Excellency Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates and with other key UAE leaders to discuss issues of mutual interest.
