UGANDA EMBASSY IN THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES PARTICIPATES IN THE CELEBRATION TO MARK THE 61st ANNIVERSARY OF AFRICA DAY
On Saturday 25th May 2024, the Embassy of the Republic of Uganda in the United Arab Emirates participated in the celebration of the 61st Anniversary of the Africa Day. The celebration was held under the theme: “Educate an African Fit for the 21st Century: Building Resilient Education Systems for Increased Access to Inclusive, Lifelong, Quality, and Relevant Learning in Africa”. The celebration was organised by the Africa Group of Ambassadors and Chargé d’affaires to the United Arab Emirates. Uganda was part of the 38 missions resident in the UAE that took part in the celebration.
The event was graced by the presence of H.E. Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development Affairs and International Organizations as the Guest of Honour .
The events of the day included a speech from the H.E. Rashid Sesay , Ambassador of Sierra Leone and Dean of the Africa Group of Ambassadors and Chargé d’affaires to the United Arab Emirates, video viewing of the Goodwill message of the Chairperson of the African Union, H.E. Mohamed Ould Cheikh Al - Ghazouani, President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, exhibition of art crafts, cuisine, dance and a fashion show showcasing Africa’s rich culture. The Embassy exhibited the investment opportunities available in Uganda, the rich culture and tourist attractions in Uganda.
