Uganda was recognised as the best investment destination in the East Africa region at the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) held in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Uganda beat six
other countries to emerge the best investment destination in East Africa.

The AIM is an annual leading platform for investors in the world and the 2023 edition held 8 May to 10 May 2023 was attended by more than 170 countries
seeking investments.  

A delegation from Uganda led by the Uganda Embassy in Abu Dhabi, including the Uganda Export Promotion Board, Uganda Free Zones Authority, Uganda Investment Authority and Uganda Wildlife Authority participated in the AIM.

The Ambassador of Uganda, H.E. Zaake W. Kibedi stated that Uganda was participating in the event to promote economic and commercial diplomacy. In particular, Uganda aimed to attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and to promote Uganda’s exports and tourism. He announced that Uganda had attracted over US $ 1billion in FDI from the UAE over the past 18 months and Uganda’s exports to the UAE are currently over US $2 billion.

Hotel, Mr. Robert Mukiza the Director General of the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) expressed his joy at having Uganda recognised at a global level for attracting
the best investment projects in 2022.
