UGANDA EMBASSY ABU DHABI DISBURSES PRESIDENTIAL DONATION TO THE UGANDAN BUSINESS COMMUNITY IN THE UAE
H.E. Zaake W. Kibedi the Ambassador of Uganda to the UAE on Tuesday 11th March 2025 presided over the handover of funds donated by H.E. the President of Uganda to support the Ugandan business community in the UAE to grow their businesses.
The funds were donated in 2022 to support the growth and development of Ugandan Small and Medium Enterprises (SME’s), trigger increased remittances, boost exports to the UAE, skills development, foster job creation, and ultimately enhance the competitiveness of Ugandan entrepreneurs.
The UAE has over the years become a vibrant hub for Ugandans. The 160,000 Ugandan community is engaged in business and trade and contributing to the growth and development of both nations.
Speaking at the Uganda Embassy in Abu Dhabi during the handover of the funds to the first batch of eight Ugandan companies who will benefit from the US$ 100,000 donation, Ambassador Kibedi thanked the President for the donation and expressed his happiness for having finally reached the significant milestone of the disbursement. He reiterated the Embassy’s commitment to assist Ugandans and also called upon the lucky beneficiaries to use the funds well so that the doors would be opened for other Ugandans to also benefit.
Speaking on behalf of the eight recipients, Mr. Abdurahman Umar Bakasambe from Kilimanjaro Mt Cargo LLC in Dubai thanked the Ambassador for advocating for the funds and overseeing their disbursement. He also expressed his appreciation for the rigorous and transparent process that had been put in place by the Embassy and pledged that the funds would be put to good use.
Each of the eight recipients has been given an interest free loan of AED 20,000 repayable within one year to support the growth of their businesses.
